Recognizing the suffering of people with BPD and their families, Perry Hoffman, PhD founded the National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder, NEABPD. Borderline Personality Disorder is a disorder that is almost always accompanied by family members who suffer along with their loved ones. She received a small grant from NIMH to hold a few national conferences and turned that grant into more than 50 conferences in the U.S. and abroad. These conferences continue today throughout the world. Dr. Hoffman, along with Alan Fruzzetti, PhD founded the Family Connections program, a free course that provides support for people who have a loved one who is living with Borderline Personality Disorder or Chronic Emotion Dysregulation. The program, which became available throughout the world, is seen as a model across psychiatry. Through her work Perry Hoffman has touched the lives of thousand of families and individuals around the world.
