Changing the BPD name
Many feel that the name Borderline Personality Disorder is outdated, stigmatizing and doesn't accurately describe the core features of the disorder. The name ‘borderline’ was introduced in1938 to describe a condition that was then considered to be on the border between neurosis and psychosis. Proposed alternative names, which better describe the core feature of the disorder, are Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder, Emotional Intensity Disorder, or Emotional Dysregulation Disorder.
