Issues with treatment
Borderline Personality Disorder treatment can face several issues. BPD is often misdiagnosed due to poor assessment. The presence of numerous co-occurring conditions with BPD further complicates diagnosis and treatment. While effective treatments exist it is often hard to find. When in therapy people may not respond as expected, or adhere to treatment plans, impacting treatment outcomes. Treating people with BPD can be emotionally demanding for therapists, potentially leading to burn-out or limiting the number of therapist willing to treat BPD.
